I spent much of my 20s at university and when that came to an end, I trained as truck driver to give me space and time to think. I was hooked! After a few years of driving I wanted to connect with and help other women in my position. I started to get involved with Women in Logistics and spent a couple of years speaking about my experiences of being one of a small handful of women doing my job at conferences for the main industry trade bodies.
This culminated in my being featured on the BBC World Service, travelling to Canada to speak at the Canadian Trucking Association’s Women With Drive conference, and appearing on an expert panel for the Transport Parliamentary Select Committee.
